Meredith teaches a number of workshops and classes during the year in drawing. Her passion for combining the study of nature and drawing as both a practical and rewarding tool for learning about our natural world has generated a steady request for her classes.
“The Mathematics of Drawing” is a four session workshop taught for the 4th and 6th grade students on the basic principles of mathematics found in all representational drawing. This class brings an unlikely paring of the classroom math and drawing of birds or portraits. The students are able to apply and hone their mathematics skills in creating accurate portrayals of their subject. They are rewarded for their attention to details and measuring expertise by an excellent representational drawing of their subject. This class is taught through pARTners - enriches the curriculum by bringing artists into the classroom to collaborate with teachers.
Meredith teaches “The Art of Wildflower Identification” for the Institute in the beautiful Lamar Valley. Her class combines learning basic botanical terminology, the use of simple keys for proper identification and the development of drawing skills to document what the student has learned.
“Field Sketching for Beginners” is another class the Institute invited her to teach in recent years. The class starts students off the basics of drawing then takes them into the field to study the abundant wildlife of the Lamar Valley and hone their drawing skills.
Meredith will be teaching a basic botanical art class this spring for the Art Association. Please see the Art Association catalog for more information or call (307) 733-6379.
